Alexandra joined the lab of Jean-François Collet in 2008 as a master student, to study periplasmic chaperone in Escherichia coli. In 2010, she obtained a FRIA PhD fellowship. During her PhD, she discovered a new system renamed MsrPQ, allowing bacteria to repair oxidized methionine in the periplasm. She obtained her PhD in April 2016. Then, she got a "FNRS Chargé de Recherches" fellowship to continue as a postdoc.
