Leonardo graduated from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul in 2008 with a degree of Licentiate in Biology followed by a Master of Science in Biochemical and Molecular Pharmacology in 2011. After obtaining his PhD in Molecular and Cellular biology from the same university in 2013, he moved to the chemistry department of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to work under supervision of JoAnne Stubbe as a research affiliate. In 2014 he moved back to Brazil to work under supervision of Hernán Terenzi at the chemistry department of the Federal University of Santa Catarina. In 2015, he joined the Joris Messens group in the Structural Biology Research Center at Vrije Universiteit Brussels. He is currently working on the project “The far reaches of enzymology in health and disease: kinetics along signal transduction pathways within complex systems”.
