Maria Kokkinidou

Maria studied Molecular Biology and Genetics at Democritus University of Thrace in Greece, focusing for her diploma thesis on molecular dynamics simulations of a Rop protein variant with Prof. Nicholas M. Glykos. She moved to London for her MSc in Drug design at the Institute of Structural and Molecular Biology (UCL and Birkbeck) under the supervision of Dr. Ajit Basak. In 2014 she was awarded a scholarship by the Joachim Herz Stiftung to conducted interdisciplinary Ph.D. research, between the University of Hamburg and DESY, on the field of structural biology of membrane protein transporters using X-ray crystallography and small angle X-ray scattering under the supervision of Prof. Arwen Pearson. Maria joined Messens' group in October 2019 to study the structure of redox biosensors and redox proteins by X-ray crystallography.
