Zhicheng

Zhicheng obtained his master’s degree in biochemistry and biotechnology from University of Leuven (KU Leuven) and subsequently his PhD under the supervision of Prof. Koen Geuten, in the group of Molecular Biotechnology of Plants and Micro-organisms. His research focused on two main directions: firstly, he investigated the molecular evolution of MADS-box genes at the origin of flower and of core-eudicots through an ancient whole genome gamma triplication. Secondly, he is developing a method to study the interactome between RBProeme and transcriptome in post-transcriptional gene regulation (PTGR) in planta.  As a postdoctoral researcher in the lab of Prof. Frank Van Breusegem he continues to study this interactome under stress, aiming to understand the molecular mechanisms of PTGR in plant stress priming.
